Deluxe Festival Wedding

A secret valley in Wiltshire became home to 250 wedding guests for this late summer wedding. Three beautifully elegant kata tents decorated with wild flowers and fairy lights set the scene. With a focus on family, this weekend wedding was totally inclusive with an age range from one to seventy-two.

After our initial meeting

Eight months before the big event – it was clear what was important to our soon-to-be-wedded couple. As avid music lovers and regular festival-goers, they wanted a deluxe festival wedding experience for their family and friends.

Guests were invited to book accommodation, including pre-pitched bell tents in the camping field, via the web pages we created specifically for the event. The web site let us feed guests crucial information on timings, what to bring, the programme, travel arrangements and the opportunity to upload their photos. The site also allowed us to keep track of numbers and any dietary requirements.

The Event

Working from a wish list, we created a wonderful bill of live music and entertainment.

Roaming entertainment punctuated the evening, causing mayhem and laugher. Comedic festival stewards greeted guests and sabotaged efforts to set up camp and, later, daring stilt-walking debutantes attempted to steer unruly human poodles through the late-night revellers. A fire show entranced those sitting chatting by the fire bowls, while inside the tent a raucous silent disco had guests dancing the night away.

An eclectic array of vintage vehicles encircled the beautifully decorated arena. An international selection of street food stalls, including an Argentine barbecue, a paella stall, a wood fired pizza oven, and a crêpe van, helped to stave off hunger into the small hours.

A beautiful glamping village set back from the main arena and lit with carefully placed festoon lighting allowed guests who had pre-ordered a bell tent a seamless check in to their weekend accommodation. Tents fully equipped with cotton sheets, feather duvets and hot water bottles guaranteed guests a good night’s sleep. Posh loos and hot showers ensured a luxurious camping experience for all.

For those who couldn’t be persuaded to camp we organised a shuttle service to local accommodation, allowing guests to move freely between their rooms and the festival arena – a perfect solution for the very oldest and very youngest of guests.

Younger guests

Younger guests enjoyed their own programme of circus and dance workshops as well as face painting and storytelling in the supervised kids’ area. As evening fell, a movie tent complete with popcorn and soft blankets kept the youngsters happy whilst their parents danced the night away.

The clean up

Our Festival in a Box litter pickers and overseers started early so bleary-eyed guests woke to find the festival arena immaculate, cleaned and primed for morning coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice and the Sunday papers. After a leisurely brunch and mellow, busker-style music, the happy couple headed off on honeymoon cheered by their equally happy guests – who could then take their time packing up to head home with some great memories.
